Measure the effectiveness of awareness efforts

I won't bore you with another statement about the importance of employee awareness in information protection efforts. With 70 percent of all security incidents originating inside company walls, this is a given. What isn't as clear is how to measure the effectiveness of awareness efforts. How does a security manager know, and how can she demonstrate to senior management, that employees actually 'get it?'
